Well, here’s a weird coinky-dink that totally won’t have anyone thinking up new conspiracy theories for 2020. You know that program that’s been going on since 2010 in which every state has its own unique US quarter minted?
It turns out that February of 2020 was the date that American Samoa gets its own special mint. This is a real US quarter – featuring a bat holding its baby upside down – and it came out in February.
Not that there’s anything odd about that.
Although, if you have a long enough memory, you might remember that bats were in the news back in February, because the Communist Chinese Party was telling the rest of the world that coronavirus was spread by people eating bat soup in Wuhan wet markets. Ugh!
This is a totally different kind of bat, though. It’s an endangered Samoan fruit bat that only appears in the National Park on American Samoa. They’re an endangered species because, um… people eat them.
When the quarter for the US Virgin Islands comes out soon, we’re going to start to think that something whacky is going on if they say, “Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself.”
