Since firearms now possess the magical ability to self-animate and commit mass murders, who’s to say that poorly built bridges don’t share the same capability?
This of course is a reference to the recent bridge collapse in Miami, which has been linked to the deaths of six people. NRP reported all bodies were accounted for on March 18. Authorities are fully expecting a lawsuit.
The image to the left references the disparity in how people in the media have reacted to the bridge collapse in contrast with how they react to mass shootings. While talking heads seem perfectly happy with blaming the individuals responsible for building the bridge, human responsibility completely dissolves the very moment a gun is brought into the picture.
This approach was laid bare for all of us to see in the immediate aftermath of the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida — where a gunman managed to kill 17 students while armed resource officers stood by and watched. Despite a litany of additional red flags being raised in the events leading up to the shooting, the media has still managed to blame the gun itself above everything else.
