Iran is Still Struggling to Recover from This Massive Blow

This one was actually labeled an “award winner” on the r/TheDonald/ channel this week, although we’re not sure if the meme creator actually got a prize for it. Maybe just bragging rights?

Gen Xers should be able to interpret this one instantly. It’s a reference to the very first televised music video on a brand-new station called MTV in 1981.

For millennials and younger readers, MTV used to be a station that played something called “music videos” instead exclusively running “reality” shows about weird people from New Jersey.

It feels like it was an eternity ago that President Trump ordered the drone strike that took out Iran’s terrorist general Qasem Soleimani. It happened back in January of this year, but after the rest of 2020, it feels like that may as well have happened in 1981 as well.

Still don’t get the reference from the meme? Okay, it was a tune by the Buggles. And you’re totally going to listen to that song now. Maybe some Talking Heads as well, because it’s a great time to be an American!
