HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones may be over after a 10-year run, but the drama surrounding its seemingly dense talent is ongoing.
In response to the avalanche of pro-life legislation sweeping state legislatures in America, British actress and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is virtue signaling to supporters by announcing that she will not work in states with tough abortion laws.
There’s just one huge problem with this…
Turner, who performed as damsel in distress turned Queen Sansa Stark in the HBO hit series, filmed many of her scenes in North Ireland, where abortion is very, very illegal. As it turns out, the entire island is pretty pro-life. Ireland, which is not part of the United Kingdom, only just recently legalized the procedure. The island’s residents are still very divided on that development. Suffice it to say that abortion has been far more of a crime in North Ireland and Ireland than it has been in most of the United States for at least a century.
So, sorry Sansa fans — it turns out that Turner isn’t quite as acute as the character she’ll always be remembered for portraying.
