Fact Check: U.S. Army Football Team Did NOT Protest the Anthem

There are so many things wrong with this image that even the left-leaning fact-checking site Snopes felt the need to set the record straight.

The image shows an entire football team “taking a knee” at the end zone during a game, supposedly showing solidarity with the national anthem protests becoming commonplace in the NFL. The content creator claims the team belongs to the U.S. Army, therefore demonstrating that the protests are not intended to show disrespect to the U.S. Armed Forces.

Hilariously, the image shows neither the U.S. Army nor a national anthem protest. Both key claims in this image are entirely false.

According to Snopes.com, the team actually belongs to the U.S. Navy. Instead of protesting, the website reports the team was actually kneeling in prayer — a behavior not exactly outside of the norm during American sports games. Players in just about every sport are sometimes seen partaking in some religious gesture.

This is a cultural battle the left seems intent to keep losing. The truth is that the overwhelming majority of people who actually watch the NFL are patriotic to some degree, and that doesn’t seem likely to change any time soon.
