“You’re Fired” — Canada is a VERY Strange Place

In this image, we see a picture of one man who routinely engaged in blatantly racist behavior and faced zero consequences for it, and the other is former hockey presenter Don Cherry.

Cherry was recently kicked from Canadian broadcasting for going on an apparent “racist” rant. Most Americans stopped there. What did he actually say? Well, the host was talking about not wearing a “poppy”, or a symbol Canadians have traditionally worn out of respect for their country’s veteran’s on Remembrance Day (Veteran’s Day in the United States). Cherry said that he felt there was little reason to wear one, because so few people living in Canada do so today — typically non-native Canadians.

During the entire incident, Cherry did not once use any racial slurs, or single out any particular ethnic group. That didn’t matter, however, because the censors over in Canada heard what they wanted to hear.

Meanwhile, the country’s prime minister who in his youth donned racist blackface makeup as a costume prepares to begin his second term in office. Apparently, you get a pass for actual racist behavior if you have the correct political views.
