Vermont’s Senator Bernie Sanders is constantly being one-upped in the polls, but that isn’t stopping the octogenarian radical from finding new ways to make headlines.
Recently, the democratic socialist was asked how he could expect to garner support when a big part of his platform is raising taxes. And, we’re not just talking about the upper class — Sanders truly does want to raise taxes on everybody. Back in 2016, he advocated for a new round of payroll taxes, which would effectively raise taxes on every American who gets a paycheck. So yes, even the poorest among us would be paying more taxes if Bernie Sanders becomes our next president.
But, Bernie doesn’t see it that way. According to him, Americans actually want to pay more taxes, because the money will be used to supply them with “free” healthcare.
Think about that for a second — Sanders says we would actually like to pay more to get something for free. Doesn’t that mean…that it isn’t really free — Just like nothing is free, because to assume so is economic illiteracy?
Sanders is going to have a rough ride going into 2020 — if he even makes it that far.
