One of the greatest myths perpetuated by illegal immigration sympathizers is this idea that massive immigration is always a net positive for the economy.
This fallacy is typically supported by the phrase “they’re doing the jobs Americans don’t want”.
So much for Democrats being the party of the “little guy”…
By and large, immigrants come to the United States from poor socio-economic backgrounds. This was not always the case, as most immigration into America historically came from developed parts of the world like Western Europe.
This all changed under Senator Ted Kennedy’s leadership, when the Democratic Party began championing the need to import unskilled labor from the third world.
This is why unskilled labor today is completely undercut by massive immigration, legal and illegal alike. The bulk of people who are seeking entry into the country are not well-educated, and not very well off financially. This places them in direct competition with America’s naturalized working class, eventually resulting in the poor being priced out of the job market.
So yes, a tough immigration stance does create jobs — mainly for Americans who need them.
