So, we’re going to start this off by stating the obvious: a lot of people don’t like President Donald Trump. No, really: a lot of people don’t like him, and can’t be tortured into saying a single nice thing about him or the administration. Even admitting that the economy is still looking pretty good right now is a long-shot for these people.
Knowing all of this, Democrats should be feeling pretty confident right now. And they have a reason to be: President Trump is often pretty down in the polls, with a few notable exceptions. And granted, polling data was skewed in 2016, and can easily be skewed now — but there’s no way to be sure. That aside, Democrats theoretically have what they need to win in 2020, but they don’t want to wait that long for some reason. Instead, all chips are in on impeachment. Why is that?
With the next general election now less than a year away, the only thing that we can think of as an explanation is that Democrats still don’t think that they are going to win. With the crop of presidential candidates as weak as it is, the best option for the DNC truly may be impeaching him now, and running a generic candidate against Mike Pence.
Sure, this may sound extremely speculative, but so has everything we’ve heard about Trump’s personal connections to Slavic governments.
