Just to be clear, Stephen Colbert’s staffers who broke into the Capitol building last week committed the exact same crime that the January 6ers committed. There is literally no legal difference at all between what the two groups did.
Yet Colbert’s team of CBS employees who broke into the Capitol with help from the Democrats and then proceeded to disrupt the official business of Congress only spent one night in jail after they were arrested. One. Night.
Meanwhile, there are still January 6 protesters who are locked up in solitary confinement in the DC jail a year and a half later. They’ve only been charged with a crime – not convicted. They’re still being detained and are in fact being treated worse than the military treated Al Qaeda prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.
This meme hits the nail on the head. The two groups committed the exact same crime. But one group is treated like terrorists and the other walks free. Just wait until the next shoe drops. Does anyone really think Merrick Garland is going to prosecute Stephen Colbert’s employees?
