As if the globalists of the world are actively trying to reinforce the tired stereotype that the left “can’t meme”, Eurocrats fervently prove exactly that by pushing Article 13 in the European Parliament.
If passed, Article 13 would essentially penalize people for sharing unlicensed images — or even screenshots of news articles. In essence, it would ban the use of memes — something we take a bit personally for reasons that should be a bit obvious.
As you can imagine, liberty-minded individuals living in Europe haven’t reacted to the news too well. In the United Kingdom, Brexiteers were suddenly reminded of exactly why they voted the way they did in the referendum, which mandated their government to part ways with the bureaucrats in Brussels.
Predictably, membership for the UK’s populist UK Independence Party (UKIP) has seen a surge following some high-profile endorsements by prominent commentators.
Once again, all Americans need to do to see what the dangers of unchecked progressivism can mean is look across the Atlantic.
