The fact that political commentators have become de facto sports analysts over the past few months is pretty telling about the state of America’s division. Nevertheless, the right is once again forced to respond to an absolutely absurd comparison.
Colin Kaepernick has had a tough time landing himself a job this year, and for good reason. During his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, the second-string quarterback helped NFL ratings tank for the first time in a long time.
Liberals such as the content creator for the image to the left believe that Kaepernick is being punished for taking a political stance. Whether or not this is true is irrelevant — his employer is fully allowed to decline a job offer for whatever reason.
Now, left-wing commentators and sportscasters alike are comparing the laughable quarterback to the legendary Muhammad Ali — who got himself banned from boxing following his own political speech.
Here’s the big difference: Colin Kaepernick never had much of a football career to begin with, and Muhammad Ali was and will likely always be considered one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport.
Once again, the left has regressed itself into making complete non-arguments about issues that don’t really matter.
