On Friday, President Donald Trump announced that he was going to declare a state of national emergency, allowing him to take executive action and fund the creation of a wall along the U.S. Mexican border.
The announcement came as the president signaled support for a border security package popular with Democrats in the Senate. With critics citing that it only gave the president a fraction of the funding he initially requested for border fencing, Trump’s move comes as a welcome development for his base.
The wall is perhaps President Trump’s most signature campaign promise. His campaign rallies in 2016 typically included the chant “build the wall!”
As anyone could have expected, Democrats and liberals are lambasting the decision, suggesting his executive action is unconstitutional. Well, as Donald Trump Jr. points out here, we don’t always have a choice, do we?
