Reminder: Nothing is Happening to Your Internet Service

This is perhaps one of the saddest (and oddly humorous) reactions from the American left in a long time.

After the Federal Communications Commission voted to strip away Obama-era regulations which classified internet services as public utilities, liberal Americans were swept into a chaotic uproar. Everything about the internet, they were told by political commentators, was about to change.

The alarmism reached such a critical level, that it appeared that many more impressionable individuals seriously believed they would no longer be able to access the internet at all — at least without paying a much larger sum of money to their providers.

The truth is that nothing is happening to the internet — well, nothing that wouldn’t have happened two years ago. The FCC’s order did not in fact strip away all regulations on the internet, but instead merely reclassified internet providers as “services” rather than public utilities.

Essentially, the free market that is the internet just became a bit freer.
