When debating gun control, one of the left’s favorite tactics is to point to the other side of the Atlantic, suggesting Europe is some sort of paradise where everyone gets along and rainbow-colored welfare checks grow on trees.
Well, that last part may not be terribly far outside of the realm of possibility, but there is a serious error in casting the likes of Britain and the rest of the continent in this light.
Violent crime in Britain, Sweden, Germany, France, and seemingly the rest of Europe has exploded in recent years — and no amount of gun control has been able to stop it. Sadly, Sweden, once known as one of the most peaceful countries in the world to live in, is now the rape capital of Europe. Britain has seen its fair share of terror attacks since it began opening its borders to unverified refugees, and the assailants have found more inventive ways to inflict damage even though firearms were harder to access.
This is something all of America needs to remember when the left suggests that the country should be more like its allies across the pond. The United States is not like Europe — in fact, that was sort of the point in the first place.
