President Ronald Reagan was a man well ahead of his time — in many ways. Hell, we can even credit him for “Make America Great Again,” because that was his 1980 campaign slogan. There’s no denying it: current President Donald Trump owes the Gipper quite a lot, and that’s not a bad thing.
Decades before Trump reinvigorated the silent majority of Americans to stand against the dangers of globalism and progressivism, it was Ronald Reagan who showed us how conservative principles can transform a struggling nation into an worldwide economic and military powerhouse. Under his leadership, the communist Soviet Union began to crumble, tax cuts super-charged the marketplace, and Americans were proud to be who they were once again.
But, Reagan gave us something else: a chilling warning of the future — one that’s materialized all too accurately.
To be fair, Reagan wasn’t the only person to predict that fascism would re-emerge with a much more friendly face. Late comedian George Carlin, who was no right-winger and certainly no fan of the 40th president, famously warned that fascism would return with a “smile on its face.”
Today, leftists lead the way in shutting down voices of opposition, violently targeting and harassing people they disagree with, and championing the growth of state control. Reagan’s prediction came true.
