One Does Not Simply “Grow Up” and Become a Socialist

This image is sure to trigger a few progressives…and to be honest, we’re not entirely sure if this is intended to be a joke or not.

Younger Americans by and large have a far more favorable view of socialism and its variant forms than previous generations. Several man-on-the-street style interviews with college students have revealed that millennials are more accepting of the idea than an alternate economic system would be preferable to capitalism — which has created more wealth and opportunity in the past century than any other approach.

Of course, most millennials have a poor understanding of what socialism actually is, evidenced by their tendency to reference Scandinavian countries as examples of the system working they way they want it to.

While they certainly have generous welfare states, countries like Sweden, Finland, and Norway still have market economies. In fact, their economic growth in recent years has been attributed to their leaders slowly scaling back the role of their respective states in everyday life.
