Left-wing millennials on the internet have a new witty phrase they use to respond to, well, anything someone older than them says, regardless of the context or subject material.
“Ok boomer” is a meme that exploded in popularity after social media forums like Reddit adopted it. Obviously, it references baby boomers, or those born in the two decades following World War II. Most of the people at the upper echelons of business, politics, and media fall into this category today. Millennials, or those born in the mid 80s and early 90s, often use the phrase as an insult to refer to someone who is out of touch socially or politically.
Apparently, there is an all-out war on the internet between boomers and millennials, typically mirroring the political conflict between the right and left in the United States. Boomers are perceived to back Republicans and President Donald Trump, while millennials are perhaps the most liberal generation ever — even more so than Generation Z, or those born in the late 90s and early 2000s.
