NYC Mayor Goes Against His Own People, Sides With Criminals

New York City Mayor Eric Adams responded to startling survey data that revealed citizens are extremely fearful of crime in the city by blaming the media for covering the story and manipulating their viewers’ and readers’ “psyches.”

A recent Siena College survey shows that city residents are disproportionately worried about crime, according to a set of figures and the mayor’s comments that were published in The New York Post.

The likelihood that they will become the next victim of a crime worries 61% of New Yorkers, either extremely (21%) or somewhat (40%). In the city, that figure rose to 70%, with 30% of people feeling extremely concerned and 40% feeling a little concerned that they may become the victim of a crime.

However, 87% of New Yorkers responded that crime is a very severe or moderately serious problem. Only 11% of respondents stated it is either not serious at all or not very serious.

Mayor Adams responded by stating that people “start off their day by picking up the latest headlines from the morning papers… and they see a number of the most terrible stuff that may have happened throughout the previous day,” according to a local news source, WNYW. He added, “Plays on your psyche!”

“We are aware that it will take time,” Adams added. “But there is a feeling that you get if you start off each morning with some of those horrific incidents that often take place throughout the city with 8.5 million individuals,” she continued.

“My goal is to help individuals transition from past emotions to present ones. And nobody can deny that this city is bustling,” the mayor said.

The same day in New York, a group of Romanian street entertainers were approached by what witnesses described as an insane man with a huge sword.

According to reports, the man was standing on a granite bench while flashing the weapon at visitors and yelling for no apparent reason. Dequon Messiah, 22, was detained and charged with threatening, harassment, and criminally possessing a weapon after reportedly seizing one of the performers.

The same survey results showed that over one in ten New Yorkers claimed to have experienced an attack or burglary in the previous year, and 40% of residents reported spending at least $100 on personal security items within the same time frame.

24 percent of people bought a home security system that is professionally monitored.

However, the acting commissioner noted that the NYPD is making progress, so the department is still optimistic.

“As we reflect on June 2023 and the first part of the year, we can already notice improvement in the NYPD’s efforts to combat violence and disorder as we go into the summer,” according to Edward Caban.

  1. Democrats are criminals in a sense, they cheat and lie to get whatever they want, so it’s not surprising that the criminal element sticks together!

  2. Nothing new. Don’t liberals always support criminals v. law-abiding folk or police; devients v. the normal; immigrants v. Americans; and so on ?
