Joseph Stalin Was the First Cancel Culture Pro

You probably saw the news that former MMA fighter-turned-actress was fired from her role on “The Mandalorian” by Disney. She’s an outspoken conservative and dared to point out that cancel culture is not unlike the demonization that the Nazis put Jewish people through.

It’s not like she was saying the Nazis were good. She was saying that persecuting people for political beliefs is awful. So… Disney canceled her. Can’t have people thinking that!

This meme pokes fun at the Carano-Disney situation with a throwback to the original master of cancel culture – Joseph Stalin. You might remember this before-and-after set of photos from your history books – at least, if you looked at history books back when they included history.

Stalin had posed with a photo of secret police officer Nikolai Yezhov next to the Moscow Canal. When Yezhov fell out of favor with Stalin and was “disappeared” during the Great Purge, the photo was airbrushed and Yezhov was canceled right out of it.

It’s an apt comparison, and also gives us a good idea of where cancel culture is ultimately headed if we don’t put a stop to it.
