Democrat Admits his Agenda is all About a ‘Mommy’ State

This meme has a dose of actual truth in it, but misses the mark in terms of exactly how America tends to perform on the world stage under a Republican administration.

According to this meme, which contains a quote by fictional West Wing character Josh Lyman, America chooses its presidents based on how masculine or feminine it wants its government to appear.

In a broad context, this is true. Conservative policies have statistically been shown to appeal more to men, while welfarist progressive initiatives enjoy more popularity with women.

“When voters want a national identity…someone to be tough and strong and defend the country, they vote Republican,” Lyman says. “When they want a mommy, someone to give them jobs, healthcare…they vote Democratic.”

The lie here is in the second part of that quote: “jobs”.

The Republican Party has made economics an integral part of its platform since the 1980s, and the agenda was shown to work. Unemployment plummeted during the Reagan years, and did so again when George W. Bush was president.

To attribute job creation as a Democratic issue is a massive mistake, and it’s one that will cost liberals more elections in the future.
