Former President Donald Trump, who recently passed a cognitive exam with flying colors, is urging President Joe Biden to undertake a similar assessment. In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his accomplishment, stating, “I just completed a cognitive test as part of my physical exam and aced it. I also scored perfectly on one taken during my time in the White House. Biden should take one to clarify why he’s advocating for open borders, the lack of energy independence, a politicized military, soaring inflation, the absence of voter ID laws, men participating in women’s sports, a focus on electric vehicles, a politicized DOJ/FBI, and numerous other irrational policies.”
This call comes amidst Trump’s recent physical where his doctor, Dr. Bruce Aronwald, reported his “overall health is excellent,” highlighting Trump’s “exceptional” cognitive exams and improved lab results due to weight loss and healthier living.
Trump’s challenge coincides with a recent Harvard-Harris poll revealing widespread public skepticism about Biden’s mental fitness and capability to serve as president. According to the poll, 58% of respondents doubt Biden’s cognitive abilities, and 66% consider him too old for the presidency. These sentiments are mirrored within Biden’s party, with concerns about public perception of his age being highlighted in a Politico report.
Amid these concerns and the challenge from Trump, Biden’s approval ratings are languishing. Compared to his predecessors at similar points in their terms, Biden’s ratings are notably lower, according to RealClearPolitics and FiveThirtyEight data. This situation positions Biden unfavorably as he potentially prepares for another election face-off against Trump.
