Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said that Israel was a war criminal for striking back against the Hamas terrorist strikes that occurred earlier this month. This led Senator Lindsey Graham to nickname Turkey “The Squad” of NATO.
Graham said on X over the weekend, “It looks like Turkey, especially its top leaders, is setting themselves up to be ‘The Squad’ of NATO.”
“Very disheartening and destabilizing.”
Fox News Digital says that Graham’s reference to “The Squad” refers to a group of leftist Democratic House members, such as Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamal Bowman who are from New York, Cori Bush from Missouri, and Ayanna Pressley from Massachusetts.
A few members of “The Squad” have been very critical of Israel’s reaction to Hamas’ attack on October 7, in which hundreds of Jews were killed and captured.
The day after Hamas attacked the Jewish state, Tlaib chose to make a public comment. She said, “This heartbreaking vicious cycle of violence will not end as long as our country gives billions of dollars in unconditional aid to the apartheid government.”
These views have been mirrored by Erdogan, who said that “Israel has been actively and openly conducting war crimes for a period of 22 days, yet the Western leaders cannot make any demands on Israel for a ceasefire, or even react to it.”
“It will be known to everyone that Israel is guilty of war crimes. Things are being set up for this.” He also said, “We will call Israel a war criminal.”
At first, Turkey condemned the terrorist attacks in Israel in the past month that were carried out by Hamas. It wasn’t until Israel reacted to the horrible attacks that Erdogan began to call the Hamas attackers “freedom fighters.”
Because of this, Eli Cohen, the minister of foreign affairs for Israel, said that the Jewish state had called back its officials from Turkey so that it could reevaluate its ties with that country.
Over 8,700 people have died in Gaza since the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7. This story was written at that time. During the strikes, thousands more were hurt. Terrorists from Hamas have raped, abused, and killed Jews all over the area.
Erdogan is not dumb (it takes a smart man to get where he is as head of government) but he is a rodent.
