DHS Caught Doing Something Really Wicked–92,000 Cases This Year!

Breitbart News discovered that a group of House Republicans, led by Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ), are criticizing President Biden’s DHS for dismissing or resolving roughly 92,000 deportation cases in the past year.

Biggs and several other House Republicans wrote to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting information about the department’s decision to dismiss or officially close 91,938 deportation cases that were still pending before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in Fiscal Year 2022.

Republicans claim:

“The Secretary can definitely draw the connections necessary to understand that one of the everyday incentives this administration provides illegal aliens is the huge number of cases it dismisses. You may attempt to uphold the law and let it act as a deterrent against unauthorized access. There is historical backing for the notion.”

“This directive, paired with this administration’s risky immigration policies, will only bring us to one conclusion: that you have found yet another way to violate federal immigration legislation and have taken advantage of it to the detrimental effects of the American people. You and the OPLA leadership are free to make any arguments you like about the scope and advantages of employing prosecutorial discretion.”

Republicans are particularly interested in learning how many deportation cases were really dismissed as opposed to those that were administratively closed, and they also want to know how many cases the administration is considering dismissing or closing this year.

Under Biden, there are now 1.2 million illegal immigrants who are still residing in the country but have received final deportation orders from a federal immigration court.

Nearly 4.8 million illegal aliens were living in the country illegally as of Fiscal Year 2022, who had either final deportation orders or still pending deportation orders. This represents a nearly 100% increase from Fiscal Year 2017 when there were roughly 2.4 million illegal aliens with either deportation orders or pending deportation orders.
