Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) is advocating for another “assault weapons” ban in response to the assaults that occurred in Lewiston, Maine, this week.
The police still don’t know what kind of gun was used in the attacks, but pictures of the person they are looking for show them holding some kind of long gun.
Murphy replied by writing on X, “Another severely mentally ill male, armed with a military-grade semiautomatic rifle, kills many people. It’s not hard. a. Keep guns away from people who could be dangerous. b. No one should have an assault rifle.”
He asserted that implementing his strategy will reduce the number of “mass shootings” without impairing the rights of anybody protected by the Second Amendment.
Murphy did not clarify how restricting Americans’ access to the most widely used rifle in the nation—which is used for hunting, target practice, and self-defense—can be accomplished without limiting their ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
He also failed to bring up the National Institute of Justice’s results, which were published by the Department of Justice, indicating that there was no decline in crime under the 1994–2004 federal “assault weapons” prohibition.
Another thing Murphy didn’t talk about was how many AR-15s and other similar weapons Americans own right now.
For instance, on June 21, 2022, Breitbart News cited research from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) indicating that more AR/AK-style rifles are in use than “Ford F-Series trucks on the road.” In a news statement at the time, the NSSF said they thought there were 24,446,000 AR/AK-style guns in use.
Now, that number might be a lot bigger.
The fact that there are a hell of a lot of bad people should give us all piece on mind! The fact that most of us have neighbors that will rise to the occasion, if the need arises and innocents’ lives can be spared! Face it there are a lot of people out here that find comfort in the fact arises there are several in the neighborhood. That would rise to the call and keep order should the need arise!
This should be a wake up call for us all, the only hidden agenda on the Communist DemonRatic Party is to disarm the American People so they can have a swift take over of our Rights And Freedoms when they accomplish their goals to take permanent control of our government to, in act their Communist Manifesto of Ternary over us all! There is a reason why the two most boldest statements are made in the Constitution, the right to bare arms and free speech. When the Government isn’t afraid of the People we have “TERNARY” but when the Government is afraid of the People we have “FREEDOM” thus the reason in our Constitution the right to “FREE SPEECH AND TO BARE ARMS” are the hallmark for a free society. These Communist DemonRats would rather rule over our ashes then serve our Lord Jesus Christ in Heave! Those who don’t know their history are destined to repeat it.
