The gun control organization Sandy Hook Promise, which was established in the wake of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, and CMT announced a new collaboration during the 2023 Music Awards.
In her opening remarks at the CMT Music Awards on Sunday, country artist and presenter Kelsea Ballerini mentioned the killing at the Nashville Christian school and urged for “real action” to stop gun violence.
Access Hollywood noted the assault on the Christian school resulted in the deaths of three adults and three nine-year-old children, according to Ballerini. “Six victims entered the Covenant School,” according to her, “and did not leave.”
The 2023 CMT Music Awards were dedicated by Ballerini “to the ever-growing list of families, survivors, friends, witnesses, and responders whose lives keep on being forever impacted by gun violence,” according to Billboard.
“The intimacy and sense of community that we will experience over the course of the next few hours of music,” she continued, “I truly hope that can soon turn into action, such as real action that pushes us forward together to bring about change for the protection of our children and our loved ones.”

I was a huge country music fan until they started adding rap disguised as country. I haven’t listened to the country music stations in 2 years and quit watching the awards at that time also. Looks like I’m not missing anything.
How disappointing. There are other ways to commit murder and that is what will happen when guns are removed from legal, responsible citizens. Criminals will always get guns despite what these gun control fiends seem to understand. Leaving responsible citizens without a guns to defend themselves is lunacy.
These artists should just do what they do best and what they know. Make music, stay out of politics. Gee, none of the guns every used to commit crimes shot themselves. This is a people issue, not a gun issue.

IF the punishment for crimes is not increased till the activity stops, IT is the thugs in gov’t. and thugs on the street that run the asylum.
