According to the police, a mayor of Georgia was detained early this week for breaking into a lakeside house. The liberal mayor dodged the question by saying that he wished his arrest would highlight “some of the injustices that have been occurring.”
A homeowner in Georgia, reportedly learned that somebody had entered his property at 6:52 a.m. The trespasser reportedly moved closer to the homeowner’s house by ascending the man’s driveway. According to reports, the homeowner dressed and dialed 911 to report an intruder in his lakefront house.
“The unidentified individual soon left the lake house,” according to WSB-TV. “The homeowner claimed in the report that he gave the man the order to ‘stay put.'”
As stated in the police report, the homeowner repeatedly demanded for the intruder to remain in place while he was speaking with the dispatcher for the police.
According to reports, the intruder yelled, “Do you realize who I am? I’ll wait until my police arrive and then we’ll see what happens because I’m the mayor.”
“According to sources, the owner of the property had held Kamau at gunpoint up until police showed up, but police haven’t confirmed this,” according to WAGA-TV.
“Kamau stated in the report that he attempted to tell the person who he was but that the homeowner threatened to shoot him if he took another step. Kamau then asked, Are you planning on shooting me while I am walking away?” according to WSB-TV.
Khalid Kamau, who is the mayor of the city, was the trespasser, according to police who responded to the scene.
Kamau was taken into custody early this week. He was brought into the county Jail on the counts of criminal trespassing along with first-degree burglary. A $11,000 bond was set for him.
The same day at around 8:00 p.m., Mayor Kamau was let out of jail.
Mayor Natasha Williams-Brown acted as the interim mayor while Kamau was detained.
According to the report, Kamau informed police that when he entered the property, he was en route to the dog park. According to police, he claimed that the house was his ideal home and expressed a desire to buy it someday.
According to reports, Kamau admitted to police that he understood he was trespassing while on the property.
