Trump asked for a special master to go through the things taken during the FBI search on his Mar-A-Lago home, and she agreed.

As a result of the decision, the Department of Justice’s criminal investigation into Trump’s suspected possession of secret materials and obstruction of justice will come to an end.

The decision, according to CNN, “requires a third-party attorney, from outside the administration, be brought in to analyze the papers that were confiscated from Trump’s residence and resort in Florida.”

Additionally, it stops the Justice Department from examining the papers taken from Mar-a-Lago “until the conclusion of the special master’s review or additional Court order.”

Because they don’t believe the Justice Department would appropriately identify protected data that should be withheld from the ongoing criminal investigation, Trump’s attorneys claimed that a special master was required, according to CNN.

According to rumors, the Department Of justice will appeal the appointment of a special master to the Eleventh Circuit.

A special master, a mediator chosen by the court, would examine the papers taken by the FBI from Trump’s home on August 8.

It is puzzling that the former president did not file a move before Reinhart to request the special master on that basis. One also has to wonder why Judge Cannon did not assign the task to Reinhart or one of the other 15 magistrate judges that sit in the Southern Florida District rather than assigning an outside attorney (who would need a high-security clearance to carry out the special master responsibilities in a case that involves seizures of highly classified material).

In a dignified manner, Trump said Reinhart is prejudiced against him (because he recused himself from another litigation involving Trump). Because it considers the privilege-review procedure it unilaterally devised with Reinhart’s approval to be adequate, the Justice Department did not suggest that the case be transferred to Reinhart or an other judge. Without any consideration of other potential possibilities, the disagreement now centers on whether or not a special master should indeed be appointed.

Executive privilege is the main point of contention in the case and what will probably prompt DOJ to file an appeal.

Executive privilege refers to the right presidents have claimed to conceal information from Congress and the courts on the justification that confidentiality is occasionally necessary in the office of the presidency and for the performance of certain presidential functions.

Trump is not permitted to invoke presidential privilege in this case, according to the Justice Department. They contend that a past president cannot use the privilege to impose himself against the government branch that it is meant to defend.
