Reade, 59, accuses Biden of sexually assaulting her while she was a staff aide in his Senate office in 1993; he refutes her charges. She is the eighth female to accuse Biden of inappropriate behavior.
Gaetz stated on Twitter that Reade would be returning to Congress “at the invitation of Marjorie Taylor Greene and Myself, and with the approval of Chairman Comer, to provide a transcribed interview addressing her allegations that Joe Biden sexually abused her.”
The invitation came in response to a tweet from Reade, who noted that the political and media elites showed little to no interest in her case in comparison to the aggressive coverage of Trump’s interactions with porn actress Stormy Daniels in response to news of the former president’s impending arrest.
“I worked as a Senate staffer for Joe Biden at the time he sexually assaulted me in 1993, thus I am not a former porn actress and I did not receive ‘hush money. There has been no inquiry to it yet; all I have faced are media insults and trolls,” Reade stated. “I re-ask Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene: When will Joe Biden be looked into? Thanks.”
Gaetz said that Reade’s claims have more credence because her mother called a radio station to complain concerning sexual harassment on Capitol Hill shortly after the alleged encounter, which is why he decided to invite her.
“No one’s claim ought to ever be taken at face value; there must be a review and corroboration,” according to Gaetz. “The fact that Tara Reade’s mother had called into Larry King Live to discuss her daughter’s experience of being sexually attacked by a prominent guy while a staff member caught my attention in this case. There appeared to be some immediate recognition that something wrong had occurred.”
At the moment, Reade’s mother said to King:
“What else would a staff member in Washington do besides speak to the media? The only thing my daughter could have done to resolve her issues, which prevented her from working for a well-known senator, was to contact the media, but she decided against it out of respect for him.”
Gaetz’s offer, however, has already raised some questions as Politico’s Congressional Correspondent Jordain Carney revealed that Comer said, “I don’t even know who she is,” when questioned about Tara Reade and the invitation.
“The Biden family’s business plans and bank records are the focus of Comer,” says oversight spox, Carney wrote.
Reade, on the other hand, stands by her accusations and expressed her gratitude to the congressman and congresswoman for letting her tell her experience.
She tweeted, “I look forward to answering ALL the questions. I notice that the Democrats have already started their smear campaign against me in an effort to prevent me from speaking. It won’t work.”
