In a statement he issued on Tuesday in response to the shooting at Michigan State University, President Joe Biden called for a ban on “assault weapons,” a prohibition on “high capacity” magazines, widespread background checks, and several other gun control measures.
Police have not yet disclosed the kind of weapon used in the MSU incident, nor have they disclosed how the assailant got his hands on it.
“The fact that this shooting actually occurred the night before this country marks five years since the deadly massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida,” said Biden in reference to the MSU attack, “should prompt every American to proclaim “enough” and demand that Congress take action.”
Next, he said:
“As I stated in my State of the Union speech last week, Congress needs to act and pass sensible gun law reforms, such as mandating background checks for all gun sales, outlawing assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, closing background check loopholes, mandating safe storage of firearms, and taking away immunity from gun manufacturers who knowingly release weapons of war onto our streets. We owe it to people who are mourning right now in Michigan and all over America to take action.”
Biden informed reporters in a press conference on Thanksgiving 2022 that the selling of semiautomatic weapons “had no social redeeming value.”
The footage of Biden saying, “The concept we still allow the purchase of semiautomatic guns is disgusting,” was published by MSNBC.

Right on , Joe, make it only the crooks still have any and all kinds of guns. Law abiding citizens have the right o purchase and keep our guns .Joe wants to do away with our 2nd amendment rights. We already have Laws on the books of who can and cannot own a gun. Enforce the laws we now have, better training for our law enforcement officers. Too many police rather shoot than try to find out what is going on with the individuals mental state. When I lived in England for two years the criminal element still had guns and used them. I lived next door to a Scotland Yard Inspector who did carry a pistol. The streets are not safe because of GANGS fighting among themselves and innocent bystanders are being killed.
