Alec Baldwin Gets Surprising News About His Manslaughter Case

According to reports, Alec Baldwin’s criminal charges in connection with the deadly shooting that occurred on the “Rust” set have been dismissed.

According to a report from ABC News, newly appointed special prosecutors Jason Lewis and Kari Morrissey are in the process of dropping both of the involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin related to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

“We are very happy with the court’s decision to drop the case against Alec Baldwin and we continue to encourage a proper investigation of the circumstances and facts of this devastating accident,” Alec Baldwin’s lawyers Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro stated in a statement.

According to Deadline, Hutchins’ death is still under investigation, and “this case could potentially be resurrected in the future.”

Because prosecutors would be required to demonstrate that Baldwin exhibited the pistol with the purpose of causing injury or intimidating a person, the Santa Fe County DA’s Office dismissed the gun enhancement allegation against Baldwin in February.

According to a representative for First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, “the firearm enhancement on the involuntary manslaughter charges in the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins at the ‘Rust’ movie set has been removed in order to prevent further litigious interruptions by Mr. Baldwin and his lawyers. The pursuit of justice, not accruing billable hours for big-city lawyers, is the prosecution’s first objective.”

Baldwin was charged after the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office handed prosecutors a 500-page report on its inquiry in October. The inquiry discovered that Baldwin shot a gun with live ammo, however, the report has been redacted. The report reveals frequent issues with weapons on the scene and provides a chaotic picture of what transpired on the day of the incident.

Hutchins’ death was determined to be an “accident” in a report authored by the top medical investigator of New Mexico, according to CNN.

“An examination of all of the existing law enforcement records failed to find any strong evidence that the gun was purposefully loaded on location with live bullets. The method of death is best categorized as an accident based on all the facts that are currently known, including the lack of evident intent to damage or cause death,” the study stated.

Baldwin has disclaimed responsibility for Hutchins’ passing. Baldwin said that “I didn’t pull the trigger” of the faux gun that discharged and killed Hutchins in a December 2021 interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC News. Baldwin continued to deny guilt in Hutchins’ killing.

Baldwin told the presenter, “I feel like someone is to blame for what occurred, and I can’t tell who that is, but I know that it is not me. I don’t say it lightly, but I would have killed myself if I thought I was guilty.”

The armorer on the movie set where Hutchins was tragically shot, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, was charged as well with involuntary manslaughter in the incident.

  1. Amazing what money and fame can pay for. The POS was negligent and broke every single gun safety rule. sorry Alex, the gun did not fire itself. Regular Joe would be serving time. Course regular Joe would feel bad for his negligence that caused a death

    1. Your comments are perfectly said. The dismissal of his charges are a testament to how corrupt our justice system is. I hope the family sues him another way and somehow ruins his reputation and career.

    2. I agree with you, Jan. Alex Baldwin was careless and reckless with his use of the gun. He feels no guilt for his negligence in causing her death. He should have been serving time just as a regular Joe would. Nobody should be above the law.

  2. He was holding the weapon it fired a lethal bullet and killed someone. Only a fool or a democratic judge would dismiss the charges.

  3. This is bullshit he murdered a person. Well I guess it’s all about money and working with the pedophiles above the law.. Baldwin suxs Karma is a bitch..
