Media Can’t Bring Itself to Honestly Talk About the Arizona Audit

It’s hard to believe, but the CNN headline in this meme is actually real. Someone at CNN wrote this pile of stupidity and then they put it up on their “news” website. Have you ever seen something as fundamentally dishonest as that headline?

Arizona Republicans are not conducting a recount of the 2020 election. They’re conducting an audit. Recounting all the fake votes in Maricopa County would just result in the same number of votes. The audit is being done to determine whether many of the submitted mail-in ballots were actually fraudulent.

And the audit isn’t actually being done by “Republicans.” The legislature authorized a team of four cyber-security and forensic auditing companies to conduct the audit. Some of those firms are run by Bernie Sanders-supporting Democrats, who just happened to think the results were a bit fishy for some reason.

As for the “completely secretive” part of the headline – there are live cameras in the room where the audit is taking place. The firms are also holding press conferences, which is what we always see in these “completely secretive” deals, right?
