Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) stated that President Trump will be the Republican candidate for president in 2024 during this week’s episode of FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
According to anchor Maria Bartiromo, “Donald Trump is currently ahead in the polls in part because of all of the measures you outlined from the Biden administration. What do you think about the fact that Donald Trump seems to be getting more popular with the people as more charges are brought against him? Will he be a candidate?”
McCarthy said, “I think he’ll be the choice. There is a reason just why President Trump is stronger now than he was during 2016 or 2020. They saw what he was able to accomplish with America because of the way he ran the country. He put America first, which made our economy better. We didn’t have any rising prices. We didn’t fight all over the world like this. We weren’t seen as weak anywhere in the world.”
“Well, it appears that Ron DeSantis is now attempting to collaborate with your colleagues who are advocating for a shutdown,” Bartiromo remarked.
“Yeah, but I do not believe that will be successful anywhere,” McCarthy said. “The Democrats would only get stronger if the government shut down. It would provide Biden the power.”
He also said, “Right now, Trump is ahead of Biden in the polls. During this process, he has become stronger than he has ever been before. I worked with Ron DeSantis, too. He is not even close to being as good as President Trump. Without President Trump’s help, he would not have been elected.”
