Karl Rove said this week that Vice President Kamala Harris is scoring worse than Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton did at this stage of the race for president.
“If it’s okay, let’s talk about polls for a little while. I think that will help us see how big this is. RealClearPolitics showed that on this day in 2020, Joe Biden was 7.1% ahead of Donald Trump. In 2016, Hillary Clinton was up 6.3 points at this point. The election came down to just a few votes in just a few states, as you may remember. RealClearPolitics says that Harris is ahead of Trump by 1.5 points, and 538.com says she is ahead by 3.5 points.”
He also said, “So this, you know, she’s ahead in both trends, but she’s not even close to ahead by the numbers that Biden and Clinton were in. We also know that Biden beat Clinton by 42,000 votes in three states. To make things even more complicated, these are national numbers based on 8 to 10 polls. But how is she doing and how is he doing in the key states, those 6 or 7 states? Not even close. We have a few polls in a few states, but not even close to six, seven, or eight polls that would give us an average and a better idea of where they really stand.”
