Tim Walz and Kamala Harris pushed for a ban on AR-15s and other guns Democrats call “assault weapons” at their first campaign event together in Philadelphia.
Harris told Reid, “I am officially the [Democratic] choice for President of the United States,” while the two were in Philadelphia.
A little while later in her speech, Harris called Walz “a gun owner” who thinks “we need sensible gun safety rules in America.”
There was clapping from Walz behind Harris, and the crowd cheered as Harris spoke.
Harris talked about Walz’s work to limit guns while he was governor of Minnesota. He then said, “And when we win in November, we will finally pass universal background checks, and red flag laws, along with an ‘assault weapons’ ban.”
Breaking News earlier Tuesday said that Walz wanted the three main gun laws that Harris and Biden have been pushing for years in Washington, DC. Harris talked about three ways to control guns tonight in Philadelphia: red flag rules, universal background checks, and a ban on AR-15s and other guns that Democrats call “assault weapons.”
According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, there are more than 28 million AR and AK-style firearms in use.
