Another Biden Team Member Resigns In Shame

The director of US Customs and Border Patrol has stepped down from his position as the nation’s main law enforcement agency faces unprecedented numbers of migrants coming into the country from Mexico.

The commissioner of U.S. Border Protection has resigned from his position as head of the country’s largest law enforcement department, as agents face historic numbers of migrants crossing into the country from Mexico.

Chris Magnus resigned from the administration on Sat., saying it had been a “pleasure and honor” to be a part of it.

Biden accepted Magnus’ resignation, according to White House communications secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. “President Biden values Commissioner Magnus’ almost four decades of service and the achievements he made to police reform throughout his career as chief of police in three cities in the United States,” she added.

Two people familiar with the situation informed The media that Magnus was instructed to quit or be dismissed less than a year after his confirmation. The individuals talked on the condition of anonymity since they were not permitted to speak publicly about the situation.

Magnus’ departure is a part of a bigger shakeup at Homeland Security, which itself is struggling to handle migrants from a broader range of nations, including Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. This occurs as Republicans prepare to assume control of the House in Jan. and are anticipated to initiate border investigations.

Migrants were detained at the Mexican border 2.38 million times in the fiscal year that ended on Sept. 30, has risen 37% from the previous year. In August, the annual total exceeded 2 million for the first time, more than doubling the greatest level under Donald Trump’s administration, in 2019.

The ultimatum was first reported by the Los Angeles Times. Magnus told the publication that he was urged to step down or be fired by Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.
