Election year 2020 is starting to shape up to be a perfect sequel to 2016: the Democratic frontrunner is a socialist, the media is shilling for said socialist, and President Trump is again being wildly underestimated.
On the surface, things should theoretically go even better for Trump than they did in 2016. Unlike that year, the president now has a solid record to run on (other than his private sector success), and more political experience to boot. Sure, his anti-politician persona was (and still is) refreshing, but he needs the political acumen to fend off Democrats who are more motivated than ever to kick him out of office.
The media, however, is treating 2020 precisely the same as they treated 2016. According to at least one individual who trades his time between the Washington Post and CNN (which makes a ton of sense), Trump simply has no chance again. To that we respond: against who? To Kamala Harris, who has been a senator for like five minutes? To Bernie Sanders, an open socialist who hates money? Or to Amy Klobuchar…who has no name recognition at all?
To be sure, Trump’s campaign isn’t going to be easy. As stated above, the Democratic base and the establishment that caters to them are dead set on his defeat. Perhaps we should be rooting them on instead of telling them how to do their jobs — it didn’t quite work out in their favor last time.
