When it became clear that there was no evidence whatsoever that President Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government to defeat Hillary Clinton in 2016, liberal pundits hit a big of a snag. You see, many of them built their entire careers out of this conspiracy theory. Virtually all of their ratings were based on the idea that they were going to be the lucky ones to finally bring Evil Cheeto Hitler down. It was a sight to behold.
The most tragic case was probably Rachel Maddow over at MSNBC. Remember: she had the tax returns! And, she was so sure there was dirt to be found, she was going to keep the documents sealed until she was on the air. Justice would be served in real time across the air waves! Then…she found nothing. Absolutely nothing. Oh, Trump’s a billionaire. We learned about that. Apparently, rich people pay a lot of taxes…glad that’s cleared up.
Still, they persist. Even when the facts cut against the narrative, the narrative must go on — or your show is cancelled.
