Two years after Democrats assured us all that Donald Trump was a Kremlin operative, the investigation into the president’s supposed relationship with the Russian government is still turning up dry.
While it may occassionally seem like Special Counsel Robert Mueller is onto something whenever someone is indicted or has their property seized, the fact of the matter is that nothing has revealed any indication that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the presidential election in 2016.
This is why Democrats keep pushing for the investigation to expand — despite the fact that the entire reason we’re in this mess is because of the very specific accusation that there was collusion.
At this point, we are left wondering what the Democrats are even looking for anymore. Sure, Donald Trump, Jr. may have had an ill-informed meeting with a Russian national, and some lower-level campaign staffers seemed willing to dig for information wherever they could find it. This doesn’t change the fact that Trump himself still seems clean as a whistle.
