Here’s a question for everyone with children: do you remember the last time when you had to pass an extensive background check to purchase school supplies, then spend a considerable amount of time proving to authorities that you’re proficient in coloring and using scissors to cut things?
You probably don’t remember this at all because it never happened. Unless you live in the United Kingdom, chances are you don’t need to worry too much when you bring a pair of scissors or any other crafting item such as a poster board to the checkout line.
But, this is where we are now on the gun control debate — students holding up painfully ignorant signs like these to make perfectly false statements.
It’s almost hard to be upset with the person who made this sign. This individual has likely been fed lies like this throughout his academic life, and these lies are continuously reinforced by popular culture.
We almost didn’t even want to cover this, but we should probably set the record straight anyway: it is not easier to purchase an AR-15 (or any firearm for that matter) than it is to purchase a poster board. In fact, firearms remain among the most difficult items to purchase at all.
