Libs Fact-Checked After Accusing Trump of Voting Illegally

A post circulating on X accuses Donald Trump of breaking the law by wearing a MAGA hat while casting his vote on Election Day, claiming it’s “illegal” and attempting to stir up more drama around Trump’s every move. The post even alleges that he’s a “convicted felon” who “illegally” voted and implies that his wife, Melania, double-voted. But let’s unpack this piece by piece—it’s not only wrong but laughably so.

Let’s start with the hat nonsense. According to the Florida Statutes, wearing political apparel while voting is perfectly legal. There’s nothing in Florida’s election laws saying voters can’t wear political clothing to polling stations. Chapter 102.031 of the Florida Statutes only prohibits “solicitation” within 150 feet of a polling place, but it doesn’t touch political clothing. The statute reads: “No person, political committee, or other group or organization may solicit voters inside the polling place or within 150 feet of a secure ballot intake station.” In other words, you can wear your MAGA hat, your Biden shirt, or even a T-shirt covered in campaign slogans as long as you aren’t actively campaigning or distributing materials within that distance.

The Miami Herald confirmed that Florida voters can wear political attire to polling sites as long as they’re not handing out fliers or campaign materials. They reported, “You can wear clothing with political slogans or candidate names…inside the precinct if you’re planning to cast a ballot,” adding that distribution of materials is what’s prohibited.

Now, as for the claim that Trump is a “convicted felon” who isn’t allowed to vote—yet another falsehood. According to the Florida Standards Governing Eligibility to Vote After a Felony Conviction, a conviction in another state doesn’t make someone ineligible to vote in Florida unless the conviction would make them ineligible in the convicting state. Since Trump’s conviction is in New York, he retains the eligibility to vote in Florida. For anyone doubting this, a Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections spokesperson confirmed that Trump is indeed within his rights and broke no law.

These constant attacks and attempts to twist every minor detail into some grand crime aren’t new for the Left. The Democrats have a history of whipping up baseless hysteria whenever Trump exercises his legal rights. They ignore actual facts and spread misinformation while focusing on hat-wearing and fake convictions.
