Did you know that Mexico has far more racist voting laws than the United States? The same is true for Canada, Argentina, Brazil, and a litany of other western-style democracies that understand that elections can be just a bit prone to corruption every now and then.
This is of course because all of the aforementioned countries require voters to present a valid form of government identification before picking up a ballot. While this seems like common sense to just about everyone on the planet, progressives in the United States are convinced that this is akin to racism in the same vein as Jim Crow.
For decades, Democrats have made the argument that requiring citizens to present some sort of ID before voting discriminates against people of color because it’s harder for them to get documentation…for some reason.
The only real racism here is the bigotry of low expectations on behalf of democrats. Acquiring government-issued identification really isn’t difficult. Sure, sitting around at the DMV or really any other government building is about as close as Americans can get to Chinese water torture, but that doesn’t stop the majority of the country’s citizens from doing exactly this.
But no — let’s keep calling things racist when we have no actual argument…
