Feminism has really taken a strange turn over the past quarter-century. The philosophy that once advocated for the equal treatment of both men and women under the confines of the law has since been twisted to mean something else entirely.
This modern form of feminism, often dubbed “third wave feminism” by both proponents and critics alike, is perhaps most present in America’s college campuses. Scores of young women are lured into “gender studies” programs by the thousands, only to quickly find out that the only thing they’ve managed to accomplish is make themselves economically useless — all while adding metric tons to the weight of their student debt.
Make no mistake, feminism today isn’t about equality under the law. It isn’t even about “equal pay for equal work”, a slogan typically associated with its “second wave”. Today’s feminism is about equality of outcome — a destructive goal which only effectively punishes the capable by rewarding the incompetent.
If young women in America and other parts of the world truly want to bridge the income gap, they have to drastically alter their education and career choices. Maybe instead of waving around signs imploring universities place more women in STEM programs, they should actually apply to STEM programs and ditch the two-bit sociology indoctrination camps.
