On Tuesday evening local time, Iran fired rockets at Israel. Israelis all over the country were told to hide in bunkers until further notice.
The IDF said:
“Iran fired rockets at the State of Israel. Stay alert and carefully follow the Home Front Command’s orders. In the past few minutes, the Home Front Command has sent out orders across the country that could save lives. People should follow the rules set by the Home Front Command. When you hear an alarm, you have to go into a safe area and stay there until further notice. The IDF is doing everything it can to protect the people who live in the State of Israel.”
Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokeswoman, spoke to the whole country and told them that the Home Front Command would be in touch with them through cell phone warnings.
He said, “We are strong, and we can survive this attack.”
Other officials told Israelis not to take pictures or videos during the attack and to stay away from windows in case rockets hit close.
The U.S. had already said that it had signs that Iran was going to attack.
When Iran fired almost 300 missiles and drones at Israel in April, most of them were blocked by Israeli air defenses and those of several American partners in the area, so they didn’t do any damage. It was falling shrapnel that hurt one Bedouin girl.
Israel’s Army Radio said that Iran said its attack was in response to the killing of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July, the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on Friday, and the deaths of Nasrallah and a senior Hezbollah official together.
Iran said they were aiming at military targets.
Social media posts that were not confirmed said that 400 missiles had been fired, and two of them may have hit. The other missiles seemed to have been blocked.
