Why Republicans Can’t Pass Any Laws

While it may seem like Republicans have control of every layer of government, which on paper they do, that doesn’t mean the conservative agenda is a guarantee. But the person responsible for the confusing image to the left doesn’t seem to understand that.

What we have here is a prime example of virtue signaling — that is, a public statement of your own progressive value to the world.

“Dear Republicans, if you literally control every branch of government and still can’t get anything done maybe you’re just no good at it,” the image caption reads. “It’s time to stop blaming democrats [sic], Muslims, LGBTQ, and poor people for America’s problems. It’s YOU, you’re the problem.”

This image is a bit confusing for a couple reasons.

First, does the person who made this virtue signaling cry for attention want Republicans to pass laws? Because this individual would likely oppose all of them.

Second, which major Republican has blamed any of these aforementioned groups for America’s problems? Assuming this is in reference to Donald Trump’s travel ban, tax reform, or health care agenda, labelling this difference of opinion as some sort of “victim-shaming” really doesn’t do much to construct an argument. Instead, you’re just whining about things you don’t even cite properly.

The truth is that incumbent parties have to work with their opposition. This is how representative democracy works. However, if you prefer a one-party state which has no debate process to speak of, it makes a little bit more sense why you would support the liberal agenda.
