During his Wednesday program, Tucker Carlson of Fox News questioned the current limitations on former President Donald Trump on several social media networks.
These bans, according to Carlson, are attacks on the American system, democracy, and a free society.
“It does not matter what you think about Trump or his ideas on fentanyl or any other issue. if you are an American, you must realize that in order for our democracy to work, political people — contenders for office — have to be permitted to talk in public,” he said. “By definition, if they can’t speak in public then this isn’t a democracy, and yet Twitter has banned Trump.” Despite Elon Musk’s buyout, he remains barred. Tonight, Trump is still barred from using Twitter, one of our most popular social media tools. You may recall that Parler was removed from the internet for creating an account for Donald Trump.”
“At the time, people saw those as Trump insults,” Carlson continued. “We are sick of Trump and want him to stop talking, but they’re more than that. They are intrusions into our system. These are assaults against democracy. They are assaults against the idea of a free society. So, where are the proponents of democracy now? Last week, people were yelling that democracy was dying. If they are not calling for Trump to be unbanned, you can be confident they are not defenders of democracy. They are dictators.”
