Nancy Pelosi’s name is about to be scrubbed from yet another taxpayer-funded vanity project, thanks to President Donald Trump and House Republicans. The House GOP is pushing a bill that would clear the way for Trump to sell off the notorious Nancy Pelosi Federal Building in San Francisco, a crime-ridden money pit that serves as a monument to government waste.
The Stop Wasteful Allocations of Money for Pelosi (SWAMP) Act—because let’s be honest, what better acronym could there be?—is being spearheaded by Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) to force the sale of the taxpayer-funded shrine to Pelosi. The bill would direct the General Services Administration (GSA) to offload the building at fair market value and put the money back in the pockets of American taxpayers.
“We’re $36 trillion in debt. Instead of maintaining expensive, underutilized vanity projects for liberal politicians, the federal government should be focused on efficiency and fiscal responsibility,” Carter told Fox News Digital. “Selling the Nancy Pelosi Federal Building is part of a broader effort to rein in federal overreach, reduce our debt, and put American taxpayers first.”
The 18-story monstrosity in downtown San Francisco has long been a symbol of everything wrong with bloated government spending. Not only is it an eyesore, but it has also become a hub for crime, open-air drug markets, and homelessness—hardly surprising given the failed policies that Pelosi championed for decades.
Trump isn’t wasting any time cleaning up the mess he inherited. Reports surfaced last month that he was already looking at selling the building named after his biggest political rival as part of his broader agenda to shrink the federal bureaucracy and stop wasting money on useless government offices.
Of course, the left is losing its mind over the potential sale, even though the GSA insists it’s simply part of an effort to downsize government properties. “GSA is prioritizing the reduction of deferred liability costs across our real estate portfolio,” a spokesperson said. “Any suggestion that our planning is driven by politics is absurd.”
Uh-huh. Because nothing says “totally normal government decision-making” like slapping Pelosi’s name on a federal building in one of the most failed, crime-ridden cities in America.
The reality is, San Francisco itself is collapsing. Businesses are fleeing, crime is skyrocketing, and the downtown office space vacancy rate has hit a staggering 37%—55% in the Mid-Market area, where Pelosi’s namesake stands. Even federal employees were told to work from home last year due to the sheer lawlessness surrounding the building.
Trump saw the writing on the wall years ago when he signed an executive order calling for better-designed federal buildings, singling out this particular disaster as “one of the ugliest structures” in San Francisco. Now, he’s moving to fix what Pelosi’s party refuses to address—waste, fraud, and the decline of American cities.
Fox News Digital reached out to Pelosi’s office for comment, but—shocker—there’s radio silence from the congresswoman who has spent decades burning taxpayer dollars on pet projects.
With Trump and the House GOP making moves, it looks like Pelosi’s shrine to government excess may finally be heading for the auction block. Let’s hope the next structure bearing her name is nothing more than a footnote in history.
