After a lengthy absence of years, broken only by a single fundraiser post in 2023, Donald Trump has completely returned to X in a move that many believed was not contractually conceivable.
The former president deluged the site with campaign slogans emphasizing that this wasn’t an isolated incident. It was an unexpected but welcome change in tactics, given that Joe Biden’s forced withdrawal from the presidential contest had completely upended the field.
Up until now, the general consensus has been that Trump’s duties to Truth Social, his social media platform, prevented him from posting on X. It doesn’t seem to be the case.
Trump’s account appears to be posting every few hours as of this writing, with five posts already published. Furthermore, it’s evident that the previous president isn’t the person posting. Rather, the messages are expertly presented and carefully chosen. Not everything is capitalized. They’re not diatribes against Joe Rogan and Brian Kemp. They represent a total change in tone.
I made just this suggestion about three weeks ago, at the start of Kamala Harris’s run, to do a little victory lap.
Recognizing that you have an issue is the first step toward solving it. It was imperative that Trump upend his social media strategy, including giving campaign staffers access to his account (apparently for the first time). It was too important a tool to keep tucked away and underutilized in the toolbox. It’s a little bubble, Truth Social. This is what it is: preaching to the choir at its best. Returning to X allows him to advertise postings that will reach millions of people and connect with tens of millions of followers (which he’s already doing).
Are you better off now than you were when I was president?
Our economy is shattered. Our border has been erased. We're a nation in decline.
Make the American Dream AFFORDABLE again. Make America SAFE again. Make America GREAT Again!

This was not an arbitrary choice. The corporate media has been pushing an extremely dishonest propaganda campaign, attempting to rebrand Harris in its entirety, despite her appalling past. This has put the Trump campaign in a precarious position.
But election day is still over three months away. We still have time to take the lead and finish this. Will returning to X be the decisive factor? Not likely, but it may help Trump win. When there’s so much on the line, you have to tug at every thread.
