This Would Get Rid of More Than Half of Congress…

There is a great point in this meme: How astonishing is it whenever Congress hauls in the tech overlords for a hearing, none of the elected officials seem to actually understand how people interact with each other on the web? “And what do you plan to do if the internet tubes get clogged, Mr. Dorsey? Hmmmm?!”

Some Members of Congress and at least one doorstop in the White House don’t even seem to know how the internet itself works. You get the sinking feeling that some of them have never actually logged onto the computer box and started typing words in the interwebs.

If you want to know why many of the tech overlords are getting away with mass censorship of conservatives, this is part of the reason. The internet grew up much faster than many Senators’ and Representatives’ knowledge of what the internet even is. Our communications laws and regulations are far older than the internet itself.

For the record, term limits aren’t really a solution to America’s problems. (Term limits are what set California on the road to becoming a permanent one-party state.) But it’s definitely frustrating enough to make memes about how far behind the curve Congress is.
