Last week, cable news broadcasters halted their usual programming to bring viewers the latest updates on yet another developing mass shooting event — and then suddenly stopped.
The YouTube mass shooter, identified as an Iranian immigrant woman with far-left political leanings, has already been erased from the national conversation. Even her motive, which appeared to be general derision for YouTube as a platform, went completely undiscussed. CNN even initially wrote it off as a woman acting vengefully against an ex-lover. Talk about sexism in the media…
This situation could not have played out more differently from the Parkland mass shooting in Florida. Granted, that situation ended with 17 deaths, and the YouTube shooting ended with zero (aside from the mass shooter herself, who took her own life). But, this is much larger than the typical “if it bleeds, it leads” excuse.
With the mass shooter in question meeting a plethora of intersectionality checkpoints, the liberal media found it exceedingly difficult to spin this event into another gun control rallying cry. So…the press quickly moved on.
Even with mass shootings dominating the media, we still haven’t seen any committed by any members of the National Rifle Association. The same can no longer be said for vegan YouTubers. You would think that would at least qualify for a panel discussion on MSNBC, but we’re not holding our breaths.
